Hockey Night in Canada Host's Wife Survives Medical Emergency
Cari MacLean's Pulmonary Embolism
Cari MacLean, the wife of Hockey Night in Canada host Ron MacLean, suffered a near-fatal pulmonary embolism in 2012 while training for a marathon. A pulmonary embolism occurs when a blockage forms in an artery in the lungs.
According to Ron MacLean Sr., who married Cari in July 1959, the firefighters who responded to their 9-1-1 call informed them that Cari had been taken to the hospital.
Cari's experience serves as a reminder of the importance of recognizing and seeking medical attention for potential health issues, especially when engaging in strenuous physical activity.
