Korea Open: Alexandrova into second round

Ekaterina Alexandrova reached the second round of the Korea Open with a comfortable 6-1, 6-3 win over Moyuka Uchijima on Tuesday.

The Russian, ranked 23rd in the world, was too strong for her Japanese opponent, who is ranked 123rd.

Alexandrova broke Uchijima's serve four times in the first set and three times in the second set to wrap up the victory in just over an hour.

She will face either fifth seed Magda Linette or wildcard entrant Han Na-lae in the second round.

In other first-round action, fourth seed Shuai Zhang also advanced to the second round with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Katarzyna Kawa.

The Chinese player will face either eighth seed Jasmine Paolini or lucky loser You Xiaodi in the second round.
