Tottenham thump Newcastle 4-1 to end winless run

Richarlison scores twice as Spurs ease to victory

Tottenham Hotspur ended their five-game winless run in the Premier League with a comfortable 4-1 victory over Newcastle United on Sunday.

Richarlison was the star of the show for Tottenham, scoring twice in the first half to put his team in control. Matt Doherty and Son Heung-min added further goals after the break to seal the win.

Newcastle, who had won their previous two league games, were well below their best and rarely threatened the Tottenham goal. The result leaves them in ninth place in the table, while Tottenham move up to fifth.

Tottenham took the lead in the 17th minute when Richarlison headed home a cross from Ivan Perisic. The Brazilian doubled his tally just seven minutes later, finishing off a move involving Son and Dejan Kulusevski.

Doherty made it 3-0 in the 49th minute with a fine solo goal, dribbling past several Newcastle defenders before firing into the bottom corner. Son completed the scoring in the 73rd minute, tapping home from close range after Richarlison had hit the post.

Newcastle's only goal came in the 89th minute through Callum Wilson, but it was too little, too late for the visitors. The result will be a major disappointment for Newcastle, who had been in good form in recent weeks.

Tottenham, on the other hand, will be delighted to have ended their winless run. The victory will give them confidence ahead of their crucial Champions League clash with AC Milan on Wednesday.
